HQ Spt Bn Mission

Its main mission is to support the HQ EC, in peace time, exercises and in real operations.

Currently, the Battalion is made up of three multinational companies: the Headquarters Company (HQ Coy), the Transport Company (Tpt Coy), and the Command Post Setup Coy (CP Setup Coy).

In routine operations at the home base in Strasbourg, the HQ Spt Bn performs several support functions for HQ EC, mainly support in terms of Catering, Maintenance, Transportation, Supply, Medical support, Protection, CP mounting, and accommodation facilities.

The Battalion organizes the transport of personnel and material and cares for the maintenance of the vehicles and other materiel (power generators, etc). It orders and distributes all kinds of materials (office, cleaning, etc). The Catering Service provides three meals per day at two different locations, and provides a cafeteria service.

HQ SPT BN Organisation

To carry out these missions, the Battalion consists of a headquarters and three companies. The Staff of the HQ Spt Bn has five sections and a "Front office" led by the Chief Secretary who works directly for the Battalion Commander.

S1 is responsible for multinational personnel matters.

S2 supervises the guard system in HQ EC and is involved in all aspects of military security.

S3 co-ordinates and organizes the training, exercises and operations of the Battalion and all EC members.

S4 is responsible for the multinational equipment.

S6 is responsible for all CIS/COM related issues.

During exercises and real operations, HQ Spt Bn, conducts and controls all multinational Real Life Support (RLS) missions, supporting HQ Eurocorps personnel in executing the reconnaissance, deployment, rotation and redeployment of the Eurocorps CPs.

The Battalion is responsible for the transportation of HQ EC personnel, equipment and supplies necessary for the RLS of the Eurocorps CPs.

To accomplish this, it is equipped with staff cars, busses and trucks.

The Battalion's mission includes the acquisition, management, reception, storage, transportation, distribution, maintenance, operation and disposal of multinational materiel required by EC HQ. This includes the fields of stock control, reliability and defect reporting, safety standards for storage, transport and material handling. The battalion also conducts training for these tasks.

In addition, the battalion is responsible for the catering in garrison and for the RSC CP and the ADV CP. It also takes care of in/out processing, laundry ser-vices and billeting (accommodation) for all EC CPs. Providing physical security (guards), as part of the overall Force Protection plan, is another task.

Headquarters Company (HQ Coy)

This company provides Moral and Welfare (MWA), Billeting, In/Out processing, Laundry services, including campament material and sanitarian products, warehouse services, food, supply and storage to support the deployment. Catering and messing are provided in garrison in peacetime and for the EC CPs and the homebase during operations.Is responsible for the storage of light weapons for HQ EC personnel in garrison. Is able to support the homebase and two CP,s in terms of medical matters.

Transport Company (Trans Coy)

Under MNCS BDE guidance, the Trans Coy organizes the transportation of HQ EC personnel and their personal equipment during high and low intensity operations. It provides specialized transportation and a shuttle system using busses. The company executes the maintenance of all kinds of equipement (vehicles, weapons, NBC equipment, signal assets, power generators).

CP set-up Company (CP Coy)

The Coy is able to setup two EC CP,s (ADV/RSC). It performs the CP's physical security by establishing an inner perimeter depending on the concept imposed. Training on fire prevention and fire fighting capacity is conducted by the CP Setup Coy.
