The Chief of Staff (COS)
The Chief of Staff is a general-officer from one of the framework nations. He is the main adviser to the Commanding General and directs the staff and reports to the Commanding General.
The COS ensures the mission readiness of the whole HQ EC and is responsible for the initiation, dissemination and follow-up of the Commanding General’s policies, directives and guidance. The COS orchestrates the HQ’s daily routine and directs appropriate staff procedures in accordance with NATO principles and doctrine, and in accordance with the decisions of the framework nations. On behalf of the Commanding General, he exercises directing and coordinating authority over the HQ MNCS Bde. The COS is the higher authority of the HQ Spt Bn and coordinates activities between the staff and other agencies of the HQ. In operations the COS gives guidance to the Force Provost Marshall, the JMC and the Info Ops Cell.
The Operations Division
The Operations Division, led by the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, is responsible for the planning, synchronization and execution of all Eurocorps operations. The Operations Division comprises four Branches: G2, G3, G5 and Engineers.
The Support Division
The Support Division, led by the Deputy Chief of Staff Support, provides the HQ EC with personnel, logistic, communications and budget support. In addition, the division is responsible for ensuring Civilian Military Co-operation (CIMIC) within the EC’s area of responsibility. The Support Division gathers the specialist branches necessary for the planning and co-ordination in support of the COMEC’s mission.
