Director of Staff (DOS)

DOS

The Director of Staff (DOS) is the principal adviser and executive officer of the Chief of Staff regarding the Command Group and the staff. He coordinates the support of the Command Group and, as executive officer for the Chief of Staff, is the focal point for the entire headquarters staff work.

He is responsible for the registry, audio-visual and linguistic services and information management.

Registry
Designed as a post office, the Registry receives, delivers, and distributes all the mail and packages within the staff. It ensures special tracking of classified documents.

Linguistic Services
Linguistic Services is a team composed of conference interpreters, translators and linguistic assistants. Conference interpreters, using consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, allow communication between speakers and participants in discussions, conferences and meetings. Translators translate written documents of all kinds into other languages.

Conference Centre
The Conference Centre manages the meeting rooms and is in charge of state-of-the-art projectors, camcorders and editing equipment used to produce video films and documentary coverage.

Information Management
The main task of the Information Management cell is to ensure that the right amount of information be provided at the right place and at the right time, in a form which facilitates appropriate action. While the DOS is responsible for implementing the COS's information policy, G6 provides the technical support and all branches are involved in providing information of interest. The media used are mainly the EC LAN (intranet) and CRONOS for external relationships, both based on the WISE user friendly tool.
