Commanding General Eurocorps at the Farewell Ceremony of the French-German Brigade's contingent to be deployed in Kosovo

Strasbourg, 9th January 2009. - The Farewell Ceremony for the contingent of the French-German Brigade that will deploy to the Northern sector of Kosovo, has taken place this morning on the Marktgräfler square of the German village of Müllheim, where the headquarters of this unit - subordinated to Eurocorps - has its garrison.

Apart from Lieutenant General Pedro Pitarch, Commanding General Eurocorps, and General Andreas Berg, commander of the French-German Brigade, the highest political authority present at the ceremony was the French Defence Secretary of State, Jean-Marie Bockel.

General Pitarch is convinced that this contingent will perform a great job in Kosovo. The French-German brigade is “Eurocorps' Initial Entry Force”, and already in peace time subordinated to Eurocorps, who coordinates its training. Therefore the general knows first hand: “the formidable professional competence and preparation of the men and women of this unit”.
