Polish Lieutenant General Piotr A. Błazeusz assumes command of Eurocorps
Lieutenant General Piotr A. Błazeusz (OF-8) has assumed command of Eurocorps following his arrival at Strasbourg on 2nd of April 2024.

Eurocorps is a robust and resilient headquarters capable of fulfilling its tasks for both the European Union and NATO.”
Lieutenant General Piotr Błazeusz started his military career in 1990. Apart from many national assignments he served in multinational and NATO positions such as: NATO Specialist in the Secretariat of the State Secretary of Defense; Assistant Defense, Military, Navy, and Air Attaché in the Polish DAO in Washington DC; Deputy MILREP at the Polish Military Representation to the NATO and EU Military Committees and Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Development and Preparation at NATO SHAPE. From 2011 until 2012, LTG Błazeusz was the Commanding General of the Polish Military Contingent in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In September 2022 he became the first deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.

EUROCORPS is a Force HQ available for both the European Union and NATO. The multinational Headquarters is capable of planning, preparing and leading large-scale and complex military operations. It consists of 11 countries with Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland and Spain being Framework Nations. These countries are the co-owners who jointly steer, manage, fund and staff Eurocorps. The Associated Nations Austria, Greece,Italy, Romania and Türkiye are partners that mainly support Eurocorps by providing staff officers. For its role as Force Headquarters for the European Union Battle Group in 2025 (EUBG25) it has been augmented by Irish staff officers. This year Eurocorps is on standby for NATO as a Joint Task Force Headquarters for a wide range of missions.
