Major General Claudio MADILE was born on April 29, 1974, in Eeklo (Belgium). His military career began in 1992 as a student at the Joint Preparatory School in Lier.
As a member of the 133rd class of the Royal Military Academy (1993–1997, General Baron Jacques de Dixmude class), he chose to join the infantry upon completing his training. In December 1998, he was assigned to the 1st Regiment of Carabineers-Cyclists in Troisdorf (Germany), where he served as a platoon leader and deputy company commander. As a platoon leader, Lieutenant MADILE took part in two consecutive missions in Kosovo (2000 and 2001).
Following the withdrawal of Belgian forces from Germany, he joined the Battalion Liberation – 5th Line Regiment in Leopoldsburg in September 2002, serving successively as reconnaissance platoon leader, company commander, and operations officer. With his company, he was deployed for a third mission to Kosovo as part of a French battalion (2006). As operations officer, he participated in the Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT) mission in Afghanistan in 2010.
In 2013, he joined the Defense Headquarters within the Operational Command of the Land Component (COMOPSLAND), where he served as assistant operations officer (G3 Ops).
After graduating from the General Staff Course (128th class), he joined the education sector as a tactics instructor at the Defense College. In 2018, he was deployed to Mali with the Joint Mission Analysis Center (JMAC).
In 2019, Lieutenant Colonel MADILE was appointed commander of the Battalion Liberation – 5th Line Regiment. As commanding officer, he took part in Operation Vigilant Guardian (OVG) on national territory.
At the end of his command tour, he joined the Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) in Brunssum (Netherlands) within the Plans Branch (J5), contributing to the long-term planning of NATO operations.
After his promotion to Colonel in 2022, he assumed command of the Motorized Brigade in 2023, and subsequently of the 1st Brigade following the re-establishment of the 1st and 7th Brigades in 2026.
Later in 2026, he was appointed Deputy Commander (DCOM) of EUROCORPS in Strasbourg.
He is married and the father of two children.
