Eurocorps and Strasbourg: 35 Years of cooperation and friendship

14 October 2026

Strasbourg City Hall, the city’s mayor, Catherine Trautmann, met with the Eurocorps Commander, Lieutenant General Aroldo Lázaro, to discuss matters of mutual interest and continue strengthening the relationship between Eurocorps and the city of Strasbourg. Also attending the meeting was attended by Hervé Moritz, Strasbourg Mayor deputy in charge of international, European and cross-border relationships,  as well as the Eurocorps Deputy Commander, General Claudio Madile, and the Eurocorps Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, General Olivier Lyon.

This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of maintaining close cooperation and fostering strong institutional and fraternal ties between the multinational headquarters and its host city—a relationship dating back 35 years to when Eurocorps was established in Strasbourg.

Since then, Eurocorps has developed a close and enduring bond with the city and its population, of which the corps’ military and civilian personnel—and their families—are a part. Beyond its military mission, Eurocorps remains committed to being an active member of the local community, consistently reinforcing cooperation and friendship.

This meeting once again highlighted the special relationship between Eurocorps and Strasbourg, a city that its military and civilian personnel proudly call home.
