From 20 September to 2 October 2026, the Eurocorps Brigade will conduct the multinational Command Post Exercise (CPX) ‘Common Harmony’, aimed at training and validating the brigade’s command, control and coordination procedures in a simulated operational environment.
The exercise will bring together elements of Headquarter (HQ) and units of Eurocorps Multinational Combat Support Brigade (MNCS BDE), based in Strasbourg, France —MNCS Batallion and CIS Company—, alongside the Signal Company (SIG COY), based in Germany. In addition, specialized elements from Belgium will be involved in the exercise.
Activities will take place across Belgium and France.
During the first phase, the exercise will focus partly on individual training, including specialist tasks such as shooter and radio-operator training. At the same time, personnel will work on the development and testing of the Command Post Concept.
The exercise will subsequently focus on the activation and operation of a multinational command post. Within a simulated operational scenario, participating personnel will exercise a range of processes, including operational planning, communications and CIS procedures, as well as logistics and coordination.
The involvement of units from different nations is a key element of the exercise. By operating together within a common command-and-control structure, participating forces will have the opportunity to test procedures, improve interoperability and strengthen their ability to respond collectively within the wider NATO and European multinational framework.
The Brigade Commander underlined the operational significance of the exercise, stating that “Common Harmony validates our Brigade’s capability to deploy at short notice to any theatre, underscoring our steadfast commitment to Europe’s and NATO security – ready to answer the call, wherever it may come.”
For the battalion commander, the multinational nature of the force makes cohesion and a shared approach essential to operational readiness.
“In a truly multinational unit such as my battalion, cohesion, shared effort and common mindset is the foundation. It is what allows me and my whole personnel to be ready to fulfil our demanding mission anywhere in the world, at any moment we are called upon. Exercises like this one are precisely where that readiness and common professionalism is forged.”
With units operating across several locations and nations, ‘Common Harmony’ will provide the Eurocorps Brigade with an opportunity to test the practical mechanisms required to deploy, establish and operate a multinational command post.
The exercise combines individual training with command-and-control procedures, communications, logistics and multinational coordination, reinforcing the brigade’s ability to operate as an integrated force in support of European and NATO security commitments.
