EUROPEAN BOOST 2025: Key Preparation for EUBG 26/27

20 December 2025

From 1 to 5 December 2025, Eurocorps Headquarters conducted the EUROPEAN BOOST 2025 (EUBO25) exercise in Battle Staff Training (BST) format. The main objective was to train the Force Headquarters (F)HQ of the European Union Battlegroup (EUBG) 26/27.

The exercise took place entirely at the Aubert de Vincelles Barracks (AdV), the headquarters of Eurocorps. It focused on testing the new (F)HQ Command Post concept, along with the associated practices and procedures (SOPs/SOIs).

EUBO25 used the Augustia scenario — a fictional setting located in the African continent — linked to the upcoming MILEX 26 – RDC LIVEX 26 exercise, although with adjustments to the storyline. To ensure maximum realism, a full operational planning process was carried out, including the Comprehensive Understanding and Operational Environment (CUOE), Crisis Response Planning (CRP), and Joint Coordination Order (JCO) phases. The simulation was driven by a series of carefully designed vignettes intended to activate responses from the different sections of the (F)HQ.

Command Post Full Setup

In addition, the full setup of the Command Post was practised, and personnel from the Communications Section, together with other key members of the (F)HQ likely to interact with the media, conducted practical training sessions in front of television cameras.

The primary aim of EUBO25 was to integrate all members of the EUBG 26/27 (F)HQ staff — including external augmentees — into a reduced three-day Battle Rhythm (BR), identical to the one that will be used during RDC LIVEX 26 / MILEX 26. This format enabled each branch to carry out at least one branch-related Battle Rhythm event.

The exercise allowed the early identification of potential issues, testing of the Command, Control, Communications and Information Systems (CIS) configuration, familiarisation of personnel with the (F)HQ environment, and ensured that the entire team is fully prepared for the EUBG 26/27 commitment.
