Recently certified by the Swedish Nordic Centre for Gender in the Military, the French Captain Gabriel has fully participated in the planning phase of the operation, first part of the certification exercise Steadfast Jackal 2023.
As a member of the Special Advisers Group, his aim is to provide, on behalf of the Commander, direct advice to the Command group and the staff. By mainstreaming the Gender perspective throughout the HQ, he raises awareness on the mission-critical implications and opportunities of applying a gender lens to military operations.
His overall goal was to keep everyone aware of the differentiated consequences on, and disproportionate impacts of conflict for women and men, girls and boys. Not only an essential component of NATO’s common values of human rights, individual liberty and democracy, integrating a Gender perspective into operations increases the effectiveness of Alliance’s effort towards long-lasting peace, stability and security.
